Pre-booked schools are welcome to visit on any day. If you are visiting on a self-guided,
teacher lead visit you can visit on any day that you would like. If you are interested in
booking formal education sessions, spaces are limited. We recommend booking as far in
advance as possible to ensure availability.

You're welcome to bring your own lunches for the school trip. We have many picnic
areas, some of which are undercover, where students can enjoy their meals. Unfortunately we
do not have the facilities to store lunches while you walk around the zoo and lunch areas
cannot be pre-booked.

Yes, we have a designated parking area for coaches which will be coned off ready for your
arrival to the zoo. Upon your arrival, please leave the children/students on the bus and have
a member of staff sign in at reception. A member of our education team will board the
coach and provide the children/students with a safety briefing.

The safety of our visitors, especially school groups, is our top priority. We have trained
staff and security personnel throughout the zoo to monitor and assist during your visit. We
also provide safety guidelines to teachers and students upon arrival to ensure a safe and
enjoyable trip.

Yes, we have well-maintained restrooms located at the top of the zoo after leaving the
tropical house and a second set of restrooms located next to the ‘Snack Shack’ in the zoo.
We have a First Aird room on site and in case of any emergencies or medical concerns,
please notify our staff for immediate assistance.

Yes, we do have a risk assessment guidance sheet with potential risks and control measures
identified which you can find here. We strongly recommend however, that all organisers
make a preliminary visit to Call of the Wild Zoo to carry out their own risk assessment before
bringing a class of children.

We can issue two free tickets to teachers wishing to plan their trip ahead of the big day.
These free tickets can only be issued to teachers from the school and once a deposit has
been paid for your school trip. Contact education@callofthewildzoo.co.uk for more

Primary school children are allowed to use the play area but must be supervised by a
member of staff from your school.
Secondary and older children are not permitted on the play areas.

Yes, we always have qualified First Aiders on site at any one time as well as a First Aid room.
If you require first aid assistance please ask the nearest member of staff from any
department who will be happy to help. Please ensure that you are carrying all of the
necessary medication for your pupils. The administration of such medication is the
responsibility of the group organisers and cannot be carried out by our First Aiders.

Schools are welcome to attend any of our many Zookeeper talks which take place
throughout the day at the animal enclosures. These talks may be based on a feeding time,
training session, enrichment activity or simply the chance to hear from our Zoo Keepers.
Most of these talks are between 5 -15 minutes long. Please refer to a current zoo map to
see which talks are on at what time.

All visitors must leave the zoo through the gift shop. School children must be accompanied
by an adult at all times when browsing in the gift shop. When leaving the gift shop, take a
left and the footpath will lead you back to the coach parking area. Please note that during
busy times, there will be cars entering and exiting the zoo, therefore all children must be
supervised in the carpark and use the footpaths to reach the designated coach parking.
